Prep students are collected from their classrooms by three OSHC educators between 3:05-3:15pm, marked off on the OSHC roll, and provided with an identifying sash. Any child not in attendance when the OSHC roll is marked will be followed up by an Educator who will require a teacher’s signature to advise the child is not attending the service.

Before leaving Brooke Street a head count is taken and matched to the roll; this head count is repeated on arrival at Clarke Street. The roll is given to the OSHC coordinator with any unattended bookings not cancelled followed up with a phone call.

The preps are walked to the Farmhouse where they eat while discussing the program and the afternoon's events with staff. They are free to leave the Farmhouse and participate in activities within the OSHC boundaries after 4:00pm.

To further support children’s smooth transition to OSHC, educators will

  • Introduce them to other educators and children;
  • Familiarise them with the service routines such as meal times and hand washing;
  • Clearly explain the service rules and behaviour expectations; and
  • Facilitate the student’s involvement in group experiences to support them in forming new friendships.

The service will also ensure that children can access quiet places to rest and interact calmly with other children and educators.

Year 1-2 students are collected from their classrooms at 3.30pm according to a roll and provided with an identifying sash. Headcounts take place as above.

Year 1-2 children make their way to the Spanish classroom and school library where they eat while discussing the program and the afternoon's events with staff. The roll is given to the OSHC coordinator, who follows up any missing students with necessary phone calls.

They are free to leave the area and participate in activities within the OSHC boundaries after 4:00pm

Year 3-6 students hang their bags and make their own way to the gym/south oval where a roll is taken and they eat. They are free to leave the area and participate in activities within the OSHC boundaries after 4:00pm.

A wide variety of activities, including outdoor sports, arts and crafts, media, cooking, drama and free-play is provided. Consideration is given to the different age groups and needs of the children on an individual and group level.

Please note: student collection rolls are printed out each day at 2.00pm; any bookings made after this time may not appear on staff rolls, but will appear on digital rolls.
