Westgarth Primary Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) commenced in 1988 and is operated by School Council. We offer safe, enjoyable childcare for children who attend Westgarth Primary School and are enrolled in the OSHC service. We provide an education and leisure program that supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs.
Westgarth Primary OSHC runs from the Clarke street site and is licensed for 180 children. The service is a Commonwealth approved, not-for-profit service which operates in accordance with The Education & Care Services National Regulations 2011.
The service was last rated Meeting Quality Standards by the Department of Education in 2022.
Westgarth OSHC pride ourselves on our rich, immersive program that is responsive to the children’s needs and interests. Each morning and afternoon the children have access to craft activities and organised games, as well as self directed play opportunities. We have a variety of clubs on offer each afternoon, that rotate from term to term. The clubs offer active, imaginative and creative experiences and build on children’s abilities, interests, prosocial and emotional development.
Westgarth Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is committed to providing high quality care for families in the Westgarth Primary School community. We are guided by the principles and practices of the My Time, Our Place framework and the National Quality Standards. We are dedicated to ongoing improvement and strive for best practice in all areas of our work.
Our practice is underpinned by the health, safety, wellbeing, rights and best outcomes of the children in our care.
We strive to provide a rich, educational, leisure based program, in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, where children are included, engaged, and encouraged to participate and contribute without discrimination or bias.
We provide a program that promotes active, imaginative, and creative play, and supports children’s prosocial and emotional development.
Our program is designed to extend children’s learning and interests, as well as provide opportunities they may not be exposed to elsewhere.
We value and celebrate the diversity of all children, families, and educators, and aim to foster a sense of belonging to everyone in our community. We endeavour to provide an inclusive physical environment that supports the individual needs of everyone in our community.
We work towards developing and maintaining strong relationships with children, and collaborative partnerships with our community, and acknowledge families as the first educators of children.
We value our educator’s skill, knowledge and the experience that they bring to our program. We collaborate with teachers, school staff and support professionals to maintain a holistic approach to our practice.
